Fletch’s Top 5 Mooch’s
As much as the last 12 months has been terrible for everyone because of the impact of Covid-19 we are lucky that Mother Nature has dealt us a pretty good hand when it come to the weather. We had a warm, long summer with days on furlough spent in the garden drinking beer followed by a perfect winter, with snow covered hills (also drinking beer). It has definitely made life that little bit easier in tough times, being able to get out and about. Getting out in nature helps to clear the head and get some sort of escape.
Edinburgh as a city gives us so much. It’s more than just a city. We are blessed with city, sea and countryside all in one location. From beautiful city centre walks through the historical old town with stunning architecture, castles and famous monuments to canal and river walks, not to forget the breathtaking views from CALTON HILL and ARTHUR’S SEAT or the docks of LEITH and PORTOBELLO BEACH. Then only stones throwaway the PENTLAND HILLS with is beautiful countryside views and sunset peaks.
Over lockdown you’ll have seen my many photos, taken while mooching in and around Edinburgh. I have surprised myself when it’s come to the photos I have taken, it’s become a little hobby of mine. I have taken some cracking photos (if I do say so myself) only using my camera phone. I guess when the scenery is that good it makes it easy! On my last few mooches I have covered, the meadows, Old town, New town, Calton Hill , Arthur’s seat, Stockbridge, Dean Village, The Water of Leith, Portobello and two different parts of the Pentland Hills. My most recent and possibly my favourite was the sunset mooch up Allermuir Hill. Can’t recommend it enough if you are looking to get out and about. Feel free to get in touch if you want any tips or recommendations for mooching round Edinburgh
For now, restrictions continue to impact our lives so stay safe and KEEP ON KEEPING ON!
